When you help set the table, follow these simple rules:

The salad fork is smaller than the dinner fork, it comes first because you eat your salad first.

The dinner fork is next to the dinner plate.

  Knife on the right, knife blade toward the plate.

Water glass at the tip of the knife.

Spoon to the right of the knife.

I always put fresh leaves, flowers, or even pretty weeds in a vase on the table.

I love napkin rings. Sometimes, for special occasions, I make some: I cut a paper towel tube into rings, then cover them or paint them. Or you can tie a ribbon around a napkin. That looks nice too.

Serve food from the left.

When you clear the dirty dishes, remove them from the right.
