The earth's crust is the top layer that is rock. The second layer is the mantle. The mantle is hot rock. Why? Because it is more down in the earth. The third layer is the outer core. The outer core is melted rock. How can it be melted rock? Because it is almost at the inner core which is the hottest layer of the earth and it is melted metal and fire like hot lava.
Hotter than warm blooded like you and me. The layers of the earth are really cool, They're even more fun than swimming in a pool. Erika is a student at Tularcitos Elementary School in Carmel Valley.
